Powerfood Active is a next generation, dairy-free, plant based vegan protein powder supplement loaded with earth grown nutrients designed to optimize an active lifestyle. The decadent chocolate flavor comes from pure cocoa and is enhanced by one of the most sought-after performance foods in the world: maca. Yielding 16 grams of plant protein from organic hemp, organic brown rice, and peas, Powerfood Active contains a balanced amino acid profile and both essential fatty acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6) and Omega-9. Delicately sweetened with stevia and monk fruit, this low glycemic, high fiber blend makes insanely delicious smoothies and more.

Hemp’s protein is highly digestible. A Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry study found that when hemp seeds are hulled prior to removing their oil, the protein absorption rate is comparable to casein (a popular dairy protein supplement). The researchers concluded that the digestibility of hemp protein is equal to or greater than various other grains, nuts, and seeds.

Hemp is a great protein choice for those following a plant-based diet. It’s higher in most amino acids than rice protein and doesn’t contain the trypsin inhibitors that are common in soy protein powders—compounds that hinder protein digestion in the stomach and small intestine. When combined with small amounts of pea and rice protein, hemp’s amino count can be improved.

This is a vegetarian and vegan-friendly protein powder. For people who don’t want to or can’t take proteins made from dairy (casein and whey are common examples), Powerfood Active is the best vegan protein you’ll find based on its amazing taste and nutrient profile. Use this nutrient-rich formula as part of your daily regimen to maintain optimal performance.

I’ll check back in after a month Well I have a lot of friends that utilize Onnit products so I finally took the plunge. I’ve only ben utilizing the product for a week so it is really hard to discuss any cumulative effects. However, I can tell you about the initial response and then I’ll try to come back at the end of the month with a little bit more feedback. 1. Taste: While I would not say you’re eating chocolate cake the flavor is good and consistent with other high end protein powders. You will not have the chalky after taste in your mouth which to me is a positive. The Hemp seed is a little interesting to the palate but once you realize what it is and not just a clump of protein powder it is easily palatable. 2. The fact that there is no sugar is a huge win, fiber, potassium, iron, calcium are all bonuses. 3. Price: In todays market paying approximately $3 per serving is on average if not below average from most daily supplements. 4. There is a lower protein content compared to most pure protein powders, however…

Mix with unflavored soy protein isolate to keep costs low This is the best vegan protein powder I have ever had in terms of taste and texture. The only downside is it is a bit pricey … I use 28g of this protein powder mixed with 24g unflavored soy protein isolate and 2 cups of soy milk or water.Soy protein isolate is cheap, but tastes gross. This is expensive, but tastes amazing! Fortunately, mixing them together works and the flavor of this powder prevails over the SPI.

Stevia Flavored I like Onnit products but I probably won’t be purchasing this stuff again. I am not the biggest fan of stevia, and when it comes to this product, that is all I can taste. I used it this morning blended with coffee and peanut butter, and I cannot taste either because the stevia is so overpowering. Maybe I am just really sensitive to it, so this might not be a dealbreaker for others!
